Congratulations to the Spring 2020 Community Food Systems Mentees!

The Spring 2020 Community Food Systems Mentorship cohort is underway, with 31 food systems leaders from across the country working with one of ten mentors and food systems experts! This is a beautifully diverse cohort with over two thirds of the group identifying as African American, Native American, Latinx, Asian or Pacific Islander, or Arab-American. Mentees come from 20 different states, and Puerto Rico! Their communities are urban centers like Salt Lake City UT, Brooklyn, NY and St Louis, MO and more rural areas like Porcupine, SD and Kapa’au HI.

This group of mentees is seeking support in areas like creating a sustainable and accountable group of coalition members, centering racial and gender equity within their organization, building statewide food systems networks, and navigating teams and organizational dynamics effectively. This is an incredible opportunity to grow personally as well as professionally, while having support and guidance from a fellow food systems leader. The 10 mentors bring with them unique skillsets, experiences, and insight, and will help mentees discover the solutions that lie within themselves and their communities.
