Community Food Systems Mentor Profile The Community Food Systems Mentorship Program offers Network members the opportunity to work directly with a food systems expert to support their growth, learn best practices, and connect with seasoned food movement leaders. ---------------- Paula Daniels, Center for Good Food Purchasing (https://goodfoodpurchasing.org/) Co-founder and Chair About Paula: Paula Daniels is co- founder and Chair of the Center for Good Food Purchasing, a non-profit founded in July of 2015 as a national spin off from the Los Angeles Food Policy Council, which Paula founded in 2011. The Center for Good Food Purchasing uses the power of procurement to create a transparent and equitable food system that prioritizes the health and well-being of people, animals, and the environment, through the nationally-networked adoption and implementation of the Good Food Purchasing Program by major institutions. Paula is an attorney with extensive experience in law as well as in public policy and politics, due to her role as a senior public official in a number of high level appointed positions which gave her decision making authority on complex and controversial environmental issues. Areas of expertise: • Strategic planning •Public policy development and implementation • Political engagement • Government relations • Entrepreneurial approaches to intractable issues • Large scale communication strategies • Board development • Organizational development • Risk Management Seeking to mentor: I could be most helpful to organizations that need help with a sounding board for new ideas, strategies or tactics. I can be helpful with all aspects of directing an organization onto an entrepreneurial path, and work best with those who are willing to push themselves as well as the envelope, and who are embarking on campaigns that would involve the public sector or governmental actors.
